The route “The ritual of hardship” (7b, 500m) was completed and climbed on 29-31/5/2023 by K. Andreou - A. Rossidis - K. Rossidis and D. Banc - J. Schauroth.
The route consists of 19 pitches and was bolted where necessary; a full rack of cams (up to Camalot #3) and wired nuts also are necessary.
On the 1st pitch (4, 15m) we start on a ledge 5m above the water and follow the obvious crack.
On the 2nd pitch (3, 20m) we follow the diagonal ramp to the left. We will find 1 bolt.
On the 3rd pitch (5b, 20m) we will find 4 bolts.
On the 4th pitch (5a, 22m) we will find 4 bolts.
On the 5th pitch (5a, 42m) we navigate between the steep dirt ledges, following the rocky parts.
On the 6th pitch (5b, 20m) we will find 3 bolts.
On the 7th pitch (5c, 20m) we follow the steep ramp to the right, with some short overhanging sections. We will find 5 bolts.
On the 8th pitch (3, 10m) we traverse right to “Mouse Ledge”. We will find 3 bolts.
On the 9th pitch (5a, 37m) we start to the right of the belay and then traverse back left.
On the 10th pitch (6a+, 38m) we follow slabby terrain to the start of the orange rock and climb that to a belay in a crystal “oven hole.” We will find 10 bolts.
On the 11th pitch (7a, 28m) we traverse left from the belay and then straight up the steep, crimpy face. Then traverse left to gain the steep crystal “oven crack” and follow it to a belay up and right. We will find 11 bolts.
On the 12th pitch (7a, 28m) we follow the cracks straight above the belay that lead to technical climbing. Belay on the left. We will find 8 bolts.
On the 13th pitch (6b, 32m) we follow steep, juggy terrain straight above the belay and then left, following the corner to the belay on a good ledge. We will find 6 bolts.
On the 14th pitch (6b+, 27m) to the right of the belay we follow steep ledges and overhangs. We will find 6 bolts.
On the 15th pitch (7b, 32m) we follow the corner system to a steep, pocketed wall and then traverse left to another corner system. Belay on the “Party Ledge”. We will find 11 bolts.
On the 16th pitch (6a+, 16m) from the belay on the right side of the ledge, we follow the vertical ramp up and right to another ledge belay. We will find 6 bolts.
On the 17th pitch (7a, 36m) we traverse to right of the ledge and follow the narrowing corner up and right. Then climb a vertical wall with a few overhanging passages. We will find 6 bolts.
On the 18th pitch (6c, 36m) we follow the steep crack right above the belay and then on easier terrain. We will find 7 bolts.
On the 19th pitch (6a, 24m) we follow the gray slab with pockets. We will find 5 bolts.
Access to the base of the route is by boat, while the return after its completion can be done by descending the path that descends from the top of Kalamos to its base, in a northwesterly direction.
