The route “Strompiraten” (7c, 500m) was completed and climbed on 24/10/2023 by A. Schweikart - C. Igel - F. Schüle.
The effort of the three climbers, who arrived in Anafi by sailboat, was filmed and screened at the Bavarian Adventure Film Festival (BOFF) under the title “Strompiraten - Ein Abenteuer zwischen Wellen und Klettern”.
This is a big wall route that starts a few meters left of “The ritual of hardship” but on the vertical wall moves a little further left than it. It consists of 16 pitches with difficulties of 4, 5b, 5c, 6a+, 6c, 7a, 7c, 7a+, 7a, 7b, 6c+, 7b+, 7a+, 6c, 5c, 5c.
The route is equipped with 150 intermediate titanium bolts, while all relays are equipped with two titanium bolts and rings suitable for rappelling. Useful gear for its repetition are 12 quickdraws, some friends (DMM Dragon Cams #00 - #5 and DMM Dragonfly Offset Cams #2/3 and #3/4), a 4m sling and two 50m half ropes or a 50m single rope.
Access to the base of the route is by boat. Using a boat to access the site requires the presence of someone to pull it away to a point where it can be safely tied up.
The return after its completion is by walking along the ridge, heading west, passing by the Monastery of Panagia Kalamiotissa at the top and descending a good path to the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi. The descent takes about 1.5hrs.
